reunion1

A Raffle was held, £5 an envelope which included 15 tickets, there were lots of good prizes and a final draw of £50 for the numbered envelope; this was won by S Tresadern. A big thank you to Tony Dowd.

The food is now provided by the Clubs caterers and is a set fee per head so I now have to be more exact with numbers hence the tickets – last year I ordered 90 meals and 120 plates came out of the kitchen --- I am working on getting it better and cheaper.

We then had a few words from the Secretary,

“Good afternoon ladies and Gentlemen thank you all for attending this year’s reunion it is nice to see a few new faces -- and of course some old ones

band

I would like to thank those members of the Waterloo Band of the Rifles along with yourselves, for bringing instruments and gear so that the buglers could make a racket – Oop’s sorry - I mean play a tune for us!

This Band would have been nice - any ideas?

Also Tony for organising and doing the raffle, and the bar staff for last night this afternoon and for what’s to come –

Not too sure if Tony was doing raffle or playing in the band here ?

THANK YOU

THE COST TO YOU FOR THE REUNION

It has been bought to my attention that a few people have not been paying there dues..!            So I would like to clarify this matter

The cost of the reunion (you attending) for members – honorary members AND their guest’s is £10 per head – the only exception to this and there aren’t many are only made by the secretary - ME “ and if I am paying so are you”

What you get for your £10

A reunion – food if you order it – an annual newsletter –mostly late and with mistakes – the use of this club with cheaper drinks – a very reasonably priced Hotel next door

And lastly the good fortune of having me stood here rattling on

That said and done, I will be checking and collecting fees/dues right after this

I am finding it harder and harder to get good or bad articles for the Newsletter so please send me your old stories, new stories or even made up ones

Lastly, I ask you all to be upstanding and join me in a toast to all those that have left us since our last meet”

FRIENDS DEPARTED…… BLESS YOU ALL

The names of those departed during the year were read out. This was then followed by a buffet/lunch which consisted of Beef Curry, Chicken & Chips, 3 Special Meals and 2 scampi and chips + varied desserts
