As a starter, can any of you coin collectors out there identify this coin for me?

It's been knocking around the cupboard for years, and it's about time it was identified, valued and placed in the family vaults.... unless I get an offer for it!!

The date is 1752, and for those with poor eyesight the lettering around the edge (face) reads:  FRANC.D.G.REG   A.GER.IER.REX

the back reads:  TU DOMINE SPES MEA.1752

Oh dear...!!  It seems as though my fortune is NOT about to be made

with the sale of this coin. I am very sad and unhappy to inform you all that it's identity is now solved.

It was, apparently, a gimmick - put out by Readers Digest about 1990.

Over the past few months I have received numerous emails from visitors

who have the same coin, enquiring if I had found out it's identity, all as intrigued as I was.

Now the truth is out...

...and it looks like we will have to hand it down to our grand kids to pass onto their grand kids before it realizes any value...!

I wonder if The Antiques Roadshow will still be running in 2302 AD ...?

I will leave it on this page to give future visitors a laugh at my expense... ah well, you can't win 'em all..!

This image is a small portion of a painting I am trying to identify.

If anyone can help me with the "Title" or the "Artist" I would be very grateful

Faded signature on painting.... do you regognize it..?

Research has now revealed that the signature is that of:

Herbert Gustav "Carmichael" Schmalz (1856-1935)

He changed his name to Carmichael in 1918.

I still need to find the "TITLE" of the painting, and naturally any other information about the painting or artist - if you can help, then please contact the Webmaster
